Data Collection: Create a data field

Data fields store data collected on your ion forms, hidden field values and query string parameter values. To create a data field, follow the steps below:

1. Click Data Management tab in side nav
2. Click Data Collection
3. Click name of the category you’d like to add a field to, or add a new data field category
4. Click on the “New data field” button
5. Give your field a friendly title and optionally add notes in the description field
6. Enter a data name which is where data will be stored (cannot contain spaces)
7. Set the maximum number of characters allowed for this field
8. Optionally select a validation pattern and add a default value
9. You also have the option to set data collected to automatically be deleted within a specified period of time
10. Save
