Feb 12th, 2025 Ion Release:

This release includes several key improvements and bug fixes focused on accessibility, SEO, and data export functionality.

#1: Improved Embed Code: Enhanced Accessibility with Customizable Titles

We’ve improved the accessibility of embedded content by adding the ability to customize titles. This enhancement allows you to provide descriptive titles for your embedded content, which is crucial for users relying on assistive technologies like screen readers. Clear titles help these users understand the context and purpose of the embedded content, leading to a better overall experience and improved accessibility scores for your website.

#2. Resolved: Meta Tag Saving Issues

We’ve fixed the issue preventing meta tags from being saved correctly. Accurate meta tags are essential for effective SEO and control how your content appears in search results and other platforms. This fix ensures that your page title, description, keywords, and canonical URL are properly saved and utilized. Remember, optimizing your meta tags is key to driving organic traffic. For best practices on meta tag optimization, see our help article.

3: Resolved: Comprehensive Respondent Data Export

The issue preventing complete respondent data, including form field information, from being included in exported files has been resolved. You can now export all respondent data from Campaign/Creative views, ensuring you have a complete record of user interactions.

Bonus: Scheduled Respondent Data Reports
Did you know you can now schedule automated delivery of respondent data reports directly to your email inbox? This feature saves you time and ensures you have regular access to your data. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Navigate to Insights.
  2. Click on Reports and then New Report
  3. Select the level you wish to report on: Portfolio, Campaign or Creative
  4. Choose the Respondent report type and select the desired time period.
  5. Name your report, select the delivery frequency (e.g., daily, weekly), add one or more recipient email addresses, and click Save.

4: New: Webhooks for Scriptlets:

Ion scriptlets can now be called as webhooks, enabling seamless communication with external applications. This feature allows other platforms to trigger Ion scriptlets, facilitating data integration, automated workflows, and real-time updates. While initially implemented for Smartling API translation integration, webhooks can be used with any system capable of making HTTP requests.

5: Improved: Custom Headers in Server Scriptlets:

Ion server scriptlets now support custom headers. This allows Ion to include additional information, such as authentication tokens, with its requests to external APIs. This is essential for interacting with APIs that require specific headers for authorization or other purposes, like the Smartling API. This improvement makes Ion compatible with a wider range of services. It’s useful any time the destination endpoint needs more information than just the data being sent.
